Complying with South Carolina Act 42 (H.3430)

The Law: Effective January 1, 2026, all employees serving alcohol for on-premises consumption and managers overseeing service must complete an approved training program[cite: 10].

  • Exam Details: The exam consists of 49 questions and requires a score of 75% to pass.

How to Get Your SC Alcohol Server Certificate

STEP 1: Complete Training & Exam. Take the ServSafe Alcohol Online Course and Exam. The exam is proctored via the Guardian Browser (recorded proctoring), allowing you to take it anytime without scheduling.

STEP 2: Wait for Processing. Allow up to 7 days after passing your exam for your results to be reported to the SCDOR.

STEP 3: Visit MYDORWAY. Go to MYDORWAY.dor.sc.gov. You do not need to create an account. Select “Alcohol Server Certificate” under “Compliance Searches”.

STEP 4: Download Certificate. Search using your Name and ServSafe Certificate Number. Note: You must include the “SRV” code at the beginning of your certificate number (e.g., SRV123456).

STEP 5: Stay Compliant. Servers must keep a digital or physical copy while working. Licensees must maintain a copy for the duration of the server’s employment.
