How to Get Your SC Alcohol Server Certificate

This guide will help you navigate the signup and certification process for the ServSafe Alcohol South Carolina course. This specific course is approved to meet the state’s mandatory requirements, including the legal specifics for South Carolina.

Phase 1: Purchase and Account Setup

  • Navigate to ServSafe: Go to ServSafe.com and select the ServSafe Alcohol tab.
  • Select South Carolina: Choose the “Buy Alcohol Products” or “Get Started” option and ensure you select the South Carolina Online Course & Exam.
  • Note: As of 2026, South Carolina requires an online-specific format with state content and a proctored exam to meet state law (H. 3430).
  • Log In or Register: * If you have an account, log in with your credentials.
  • If you are new, create an account. Ensure your name matches your government-issued ID exactly, as this will appear on your certificate.
  • Complete Purchase: Add the course and exam bundle to your cart and complete the checkout.
  • Save Your Codes: Check your email for a confirmation containing two distinct codes:
  • Course Access Code: To unlock the learning modules.
  • Exam Access Code: To unlock the final test.
  • Tip: Keep this email open or copy these codes into a notes app for easy access later.

Phase 2: Accessing the Course

  • Navigate back to the ServSafe.com website, log in again (if necessary)
  • Open Your Dashboard: Hover over your name on the top ribbon of the ServSafe homepage and select Dashboard.
  • Set Your Role: Click on the Student Icon to view student-specific options.
  • Launch the Course: * Click on My Online Courses (direct link).
  • Scroll down to the “Enter Course Access Code” field.
  • Copy and paste your code from the email and click Redeem or Start.

Phase 3: The Curriculum

Phase 4: Installing the Guardian Browser
You should complete these steps before you finish the course so you are ready to test immediately.

  • Download the Installer: Go to guardian.meazurelearning.com and select the version compatible with your computer:
  • Windows: Windows 10 or 11 (32-bit and 64-bit).
  • Mac: macOS 10.14 or higher. (Note: You must choose the correct version for your processor—Intel or Apple Silicon M1/M2/M3).
  • Install the Application: * Windows: Open the .exe file and follow the installation prompts.
  • Mac: Open the .dmg file and drag the Guardian icon into your Applications folder.
  • Grant Permissions (Mac Users Only): macOS requires you to manually allow “Screen Recording” for the Guardian Browser. Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Screen Recording and ensure Guardian is toggled ON.
  • Test Your Equipment: Open the Guardian Browser and click the “Test Your Equipment” button. This will check your webcam, microphone, and internet speed (10 Mbps recommended) to ensure you won’t have technical issues during the exam.

Phase 5: Taking the Exam

  • Return to Student Dashboard: Once the course is 100% complete, go back to the Student Icon on your dashboard.
  • Select Exam: Click on Take Online Exam (direct link).
  • Select the South Carolina Exam: Use the dropdown menu to select the South Carolina Alcohol Exam.
  • Enter Exam Code: If the code doesn’t auto-populate, paste your Exam Access Code from your email.
  • Proctoring: Follow the on-screen instructions for proctoring. Ensure you have your ID ready and are in a quiet, private area.

Download and Print Your ServSafe Alcohol Certificate

Once the system records a passing score, your eCertificate is generated automatically.

  • Step 1: On the same Dashboard, look for the Certificates tab (usually found in the top navigation bar or within the Student section).
  • Step 2: Select Download My Certificates.
  • Step 3: You will see a list of your active certifications. Click the “Download” button next to your South Carolina Alcohol Certificate.
  • Step 4: This will open a PDF which you can save to your computer or print directly.

How to Get Your SC DOR SC Alcohol Server Certificate

  • Step 1: Wait for Processing. Allow up to 7 days after passing your exam for your results to be reported to the SCDOR.
  • Step 2: Visit MYDORWAY. Go to MYDORWAY.dor.sc.gov. You do not need to create an account. Select “Alcohol Server Certificate” under “Compliance Searches”.
  • Step 3: Download Certificate. Search using your Name and ServSafe Certificate Number. Note: You must include the “SRV” code at the beginning of your certificate number (e.g., SRV123456).
  • Step 4: Stay Compliant. Servers must keep a digital or physical copy while working. Licensees must maintain a copy for the duration of the server’s employment.
